We strive to be as commercially sustainable as possible while delighting our customers, with an added focus on remaining climate-positive. Because the reasons have never been more clear.
Environment Canada states that water use in the 20th century increased more than six fold, and continues to increase about twice as fast as the human population is increasing. It is also shown that the current average North American diet requires over 1,800 m3 of water per person per year from both natural rainfall and irrigation; the diet of an average African living in the sub-Saharan region is produced with less than 650 m3 of water per person per year. CleanLinc continues to move towards conserving more water through innovative initiatives. The purpose of our directive is to decrease CleanLinc's dependency on Municipal water system therefore resulting in a much more sustainable service delivery. From using 3M FlatMop systems which use up to 85% less mop water, to non-cotton materials, our water conserving initiatives have already resulted in over 750,000 litres of water saved every year since 2019.
To continue towards increasing the percentage of diverted waste from our service delivery, CleanLinc has developed a waste reduction plan and a new waste and recycling collection program aimed at enhancing diversion and reducing cross-contamination between different types of recyclable waste from packaging and single-use service equipment. The outcome of our source-level diversion and capture program is designed to further enhance the diversion rate of CleanLinc and encourage customers to consider 'greener' consumables options where alternatives and facilities exist.
CleanLinc eliminated the use of propane burnishers and floor stripping machines since 2020 as part of our enhanced conservation and environmental goals. This has helped with worker safety and materials handling, and promoted energy efficiency through the sourcing of battery powered equipment and renewably sourced electricity. Our Sustainability team also assists in implementing energy conservation programs to compliment clients which have sustainability programs. The return on our investments is not just financial and environmental but also helps worker health by reducing technician fatigue and potential long-term noise exposure, while also saving the need to transport or manage large propane cylinders, while also cutting refill transportation waste and energy use.
CleanLinc is committed to increasing it's green cleaning integration to minimize harm to our environment while protecting the well-being of personnel, clients, guests and any person who spends time at a serviced facility. CleanLinc teams achieve less harmful chemicals compliance by researching the products and processes used to clean, while CleanLinc's sourcing teams study the production methods and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of manufacturers. Any change to a cleaning program that supports sustainability and safeguards human health and safety—at any stage of the supply chain—can make a positive long-term impact for many, and we are proud to actively pursue safer alternatives while maintaining strict budget adherence.
